Flashback Friday: Montauk (The Sequel)

Photobucket
History: I love being in Montauk. I got pretty in depth about my love for the beach town in this post. That was when we went for my birthday, but two summers ago we also went just because. We packed a picnic lunch and watched big waves roll in while hanging out on gigantic rocks, and it was awesome.

Flashback Friday: The Beach

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Nashville and I am having a great time in my new city. I think I've mentioned that, right? The last few days though, after seeing my friends back home hanging out at the beaches on my Instagram feed.. I am really missing it. I was lucky enough to grow up on an island and have the water surrounding me, literally anywhere I turned. Today's Flashback Friday entry is my ode to the beach. All of those waters and shorelines and ocean breezes were really, really good to me.

After editing these, I noticed that these were all from the North Shore. The South Shore is gorgeous too. One day soon I will take drive out to a place here in Tennessee that they call Rock Island, and I will jump into the water and swim and hopefully miss the beach a little less, but the ocean will always be my home.

Flashback Friday

It is just a miserable day out there. Gray and windy, lots of rain. Plus I woke up ten minutes before I had to leave for work, so here I am in a hoodie and a thermal, not feeling like the best version of myself. My sleeping patterns have been all wonky lately. It's time for one of those head to toe life make overs. Last night I went grocery shopping at Target and got a ton of really healthy, yummy stuff. And vitamins. And new mascara, two pairs of tights and two pairs of boot socks (They were on sale!). Target is so dangerous. But anyway, I will be feeling better soon. That's optimism! And that brings me to this week's Flashback Friday theme. Brought to you by my fortune cookie from craft night this week.

I'm so ready for the bleakness of winter to end and make way for warmer, breezy sunny days. I was just about to really get going on my outfit posts and this weather is kind of putting a damper on things ;)

Here are some of my favorite photos from springs past.

Flashback Friday: March 8th, 2010

For my 23rd birthday, Andrew took me to Montauk (my number one favorite place on Long Island). We dressed warm, because my birthday is in March and it's not exactly beach weather. That didn't stop me from kicking my boots off and running into the ocean, but that's just the way I am. We brought lunch and girl scout cookies and sidewalk chalk and spent hours on the rocks under the lighthouse, overlooking the water. It's one of my favorite early memories of us. We had just started dating a few months before, and nobody had ever made my birthday that special in the past. We had a really nice time.

Andrew gave me my gifts in the car on the way to Montauk Point. A mix cd (a large part of my heart is portioned off specifically for mixes made for me), and this Diana+ lens for my camera, which of course I had with me, and of course I took a ton of photos with it once we arrived.

This last one is one of the first pictures Andrew ever took of me. With his iPhone, way before Instagram! Such a creative guy, he is.

This post on abeautifulmess the other day inspired me to add the Diana+ lens back into my camera bag. I haven't used it much. I loved the gift and the thought behind it, but at first I was a little confused by lomography. Mainly because I was still trying to get "good". Now, almost two years since, I feel like I'm good (toot! that was my own horn), and I'm so down to experiment. I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather, and going to Avalon while everything in the flower field is blooming, and taking some more dreamy photos.

I feel like I've been on post overload lately, but I'm going to be really busy this weekend so this is the last you'll hear from me until sometime next week - when I get all of my ducks in a row. I'm assisting & modeling on a shoot tonight, assisting TWO shoots tomorrow (one in Brooklyn! one for a fashion blog!), and then my friend Angela and I are going to try our hardest to get into the I Am The Avalanche/Balance & Composure show in Amityville on Sunday. Wish me luck, on all of it! Gonna need a lot of coffee. <3
